Biblical Worldview

Acknowledging the importance of building a biblical worldview begins with understanding the jargon used to explain its relevance. Below is a partial list of vocabulary used in Christian education and in studies pertaining to worldview construction. These definitions, information, and images are being published in my dissertation and are protected by copyright laws. The entire study will be available on Scholars Crossing after publication.

1. Biblical Worldview: A biblically faithful worldview aligned with the clear teachings of Scripture (Anderson et al., 2017).

2. Christian Education: The holistic approach of fostering spiritual growth, biblical knowledge, and discipleship within students in a learning environment. Christian education is an intentional and dynamic process equipping students to live out their faith actively, thoughtfully, and prayerfully (Pazmiño, 2008).

3. Christian Worldview: A worldview grounded on God’s Word, providing believers with a lens through which they view and understand all of creation and their place within it (Pearcey, 2008).

4. Education: The strategy of cultivating pedagogy that encompasses the whole person – intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually (Luetz et al., 2018).

5. Implementation: In Christian education, implementation is the methodology used to cultivate a biblical worldview within the daily lives of students (Horan 2017; Prior, 2021).

6. Integration: In Christian education, integration is the intentional connection of biblical truth and a Christian worldview to curriculum, instruction, and school culture (Pearcey, 2008; Cox et al., 2008).

7. Spiritual Formation: The intentional and lifelong process of maturation focused on being conformed to the image of Christ (Pettit, 2008). Spiritual formation is an ongoing, deliberate process that relies on reciprocal interactions within the body of Christ and on the Holy Spirit’s transformative work (Lowe & Lowe, 2018).

8. Christian School Leaders: The administrative and operational leaders of a Christian school are responsible for shepherding students and staff, integrating and implementing a biblical worldview, providing spiritual formation for students and staff, and ensuring the holistic success of their students (ACSI, 2025). For this study, these managers included headmasters (also called head of school), administrators, principals, deans, and pastors.

9. Worldview: The structure of understanding people use to comprehend the world around them and their place within it (Ryken, 2013). It is the lens through which people view life, providing an orientation to reality (Prior, 2021).
